Studio Exploration Project

I have always loved visiting bodies of water, whether it be oceans, rivers, waterfalls and so on. This past summer, I spent a lot of times visiting/discovering local waterfalls. It brought about a calm quiet for me some days, and others a loud constant chaos as the water and those enjoying it rushed about.  It was not just a matter of seeing a beautiful aspect of nature for me, but rather the feelings one gets when viewing it/being around it.

My idea of the project is to focus on the various feelings one associates when sitting beside a waterfall. A range of feelings such as calm, balance or lack of, insignificance, unity, chaos, and so on. Different waterfalls bring about different feelings, obviously, just like any other location.

I'm going to attempt to capture the chaotic yet peaceful visual of the waterfalls, which hopefully when viewed will give the viewers various feelings towards them.  I'm also interested in researching various artists who wished to focus on their viewers feelings toward their painting (such as Francis Bacon with his use of super reflective glass displaying his artwork).

I'm planning on doing a series of 3 (maybe 4 if time allows) of waterfall paintings, using various techniques (but yet still have them look cohesive).
